Doris Lorraine Tomczyk-Erickson, known to her friends as Lorraine, was born on September 23, 1931, in Flint, Michigan, to Clayton and Genevieve Erickson. She passed away on March 12, 2026, at her home in Swartz Creek, Michigan, at the age of 94, surrounded by her family. In October 1956, she married the love of her life, Stanley Tomczyk, and together they built a life centered on family and shared adventures.
After high school, Lorraine worked for nine years in the payroll department at General Motors. She later devoted herself fully to raising her five sons, spending summers at the lake and creating a warm, stable home for her growing family. Traveling with her husband Stan brought her great joy, but her true career and deepest commitment remained her family—her husband, children, sister, brother, and all those connected to her by heart and blood.
Lorraine is survived by her sons, Edward (Anna Marie), Andrew (Venus), Michael (Elaine), Theodore (Laurie), and Stanley Paul (Alison), 17 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and her brother Clayton Erickson. She was preceded in death by her father Clayton Erickson, her mother Genevieve (Ted) Stefaniak, her husband Stanley Tomczyk, and her sister Phyllis McCall. She will be laid to rest beside Stanley at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
