Doris Lee Mosley

1926 — 2026

Rainelle, WV

Doris Lee Mosley passed away peacefully in Cincinnati, Ohio, on March 12, 2026, one day before her 100th birthday. Born in Rainelle, West Virginia, she was the eldest child of the late Thomas Lee and Laura (Connie) Mosley. Doris graduated from Bluefield State College and later earned a master’s degree from the University of Virginia. She spent her career teaching mathematics and French in Prince Edward County, Virginia, where she inspired both her students and her younger siblings to value education.

Although she never married or had children of her own, Doris remained a cherished and supportive presence in her large extended family. She was a devoted aunt to her nieces and nephews and their families, offering guidance and quiet encouragement throughout their lives. A lifelong learner, she found joy in reading, travel, and her active involvement with First Baptist Church of Rainelle. After retiring from teaching, she returned to Rainelle before moving to Cincinnati, where she was lovingly cared for in her later years by her sister Elia (Edy) and brother Everett (Gene).

Doris was preceded in death by her brothers Thomas, Richard, John, David, Michael, and Alvin, her sisters Patricia and Ferne, and her niece Susan. She is survived by her brother Everett, her sister Emma of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends who will remember her gentle strength and enduring commitment to family and learning.
