Doris Laverne Russell, of Moore, Oklahoma, passed away on March 11, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on February 25, 1942, in Stratford, Oklahoma, to Harvey Dowdle Dillon and Ada Dillon, she graduated from Stratford High School in 1960. Throughout her life, Doris held a deep love for music, playing the piano for many years and the clarinet during her school days. She also found quiet joy in working crossword puzzles, completing jigsaw puzzles, and playing dominoes and Password.

A lifelong Christian, Doris remained devoted to her faith. She faithfully followed Christian programming including CBN, TBN, and The 700 Club, and cherished Southern Gospel music, especially the songs of The Happy Goodmans. She served as Sunday School Secretary at Capitol Hill Assembly of God and participated in nursing home ministries at First Assembly of God from 1972 to 1974. Known for her lively and social personality, Doris spent 53 years as an Avon representative, forming many lasting friendships in the community. She also worked for the Oklahoma State Department of Human Services in foster care, providing careful administrative support to case workers by typing and preparing their in-home visit reports.

Doris enjoyed dining out at favorite places such as St. Anne’s Cafeteria and Olive Garden, and cherished time spent with family and friends. She is survived by her two daughters, Sheila Flanagan and Terrie Careswell, seven grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren, who will carry forward her love and legacy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Ada Dillon, and her brother, James Carroll Dillon.

She will be remembered for her strong faith, kind heart, joyful spirit, and the warmth she shared with everyone around her. Her memory will be treasured by all who knew and loved her.
