Doris K. Van Vorst-Hymes

We bid farewell to Doris K. Van Vorst-Hymes (Rochester, New York), whose journey of life gracefully concluded on March 5, 2026 at the age of 78. Doris touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her husband Luther Hymes Jr.; her sisters, Janice Van Vorst, Joyce Pfleegor (Tom) and Nancy Baush (Richard); her brother-in-law Ronald LaPlant; and her parents, Henry Vorst and Rose Van Vorst.

She is survived by: her son Jason VanVorst (Maria Torres); her grandson John Schmidt (Candice); her great grandchildren, Kayden and Kai; and her siblings, Anita Gardener (Jim), Ellie LaPlant and Henry Van Vorst (Mary Lou). She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 11th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the New Comer Funeral Home (2636 Ridgeway Ave, Rochester, NY 14626). A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 11th 2026 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at the Falls Cemetery.
