Doris Brubaker ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons, Inc. - Shelby Township on Mar. 1, 2026.BRUBAKER, DORIS FAE (nee STEWART) Age 95, of Shelby Township, Michigan, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.Born on January 19, 1931, in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, Doris was the cherished daughter of Walter Clair Stewart and Maude Adelia Piper, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edwin Earl Brubaker; her son, Ron Brubaker; and her three brothers, Harvey, Raymond, Melvin.At just 18 years old, Doris and Edwin ran away to Maryland to be married, beginning a love story that would last 62 years until Edwin's passing. Their marriage was a testament to commitment, devotion, and enduring love."Love is patient, love is kind… It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails."- 1 Corinthians 13:4, 7–8Doris is survived by her devoted children: Rick Brubaker (Oyuna), Tim Brubaker (Patricia), and her daughter, Debbie Brubaker. She was a proud grandmother to 21 grandchildren and a loving great-grandmother to 19 great-grandchildren. One great-grandchild preceded her in death. Her family was her greatest joy and proudest accomplishment.For 29 years, Doris worked as an administrative assistant at General Motors, where she was known for her dedication and warm spirit. Outside of work, she filled her days with the simple pleasures she loved most. She enjoyed shopping, attending card club, going to lunch with neighbors, and participating in neighborhood gatherings. Evenings often meant watching her favorite soap operas, and her kitchen was a place of creativity and comfort, especially when she was baking, cooking, or decorating cakes.Doris treasured traditions. Sunday dinners, hosting Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve celebrations, and cheering on her sons and grandchildren at sporting events were some of her happiest moments. She had a remarkable way of connecting with people and truly never met a person she didn't like in some way.A faithful member of Faith Lutheran Church of Shelby Township, Doris lived her life with quiet strength, kindness, and grace. She will be remembered as a wonderful, loving, and caring mother, grandmother, and friend whose presence made every gathering warmer."For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God."- Romans 8:38–39Her legacy lives on in the family she loved so deeply and in the countless memories shared around her table.Visitation Sunday 3-9pm at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons 54880 Van Dyke at 25 Mile Rd. (SHELBY TOWNSHIP). Funeral Monday Instate 10:00am Cross Lutheran Church 35851 Utica Road Clinton Township, Michigan until time of Service at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers donations are welcome to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the American Heart Association. Interment Cadillac Memorial Gardens East.
