Doris Ehlert

Doris J. Ehlert, 76, of Ottertail, Minnesota, died peacefully at home with her family by her side on Sunday, March 8, 2026.

Born to Robert “Fritz” and Mildred (Hansen) Monk on September 30, 1949, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, Doris grew up with a deep sense of family and community. She married Ronald W. Ehlert on November 18, 1967, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Wahpeton, North Dakota. The couple made their home on the family farm near Foxhome, Minnesota, before moving to Otter Tail Lake in 2000.

A longtime member of St. Henry’s Catholic Church, Doris cherished her family above all, especially her beloved dog Charlie. She was an avid quilter, took great pride in making the first hole-in-one at Balmoral North Golf Course, and found her greatest joy in spending quiet days on the lake with her husband Ron, daughter Lisa, and her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband Ron Ehlert and daughter Lisa Barnes, both of Ottertail; grandsons Spencer (Catherine) Barnes of Highland, Illinois, and Chandler (Hanna) Barnes of Casselton, North Dakota; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Doris was preceded in death by her daughter Lori Ann, son Nathan Norbert, grandson Noah Jordheim, her parents Robert and Mildred Monk, brothers Robert, Herbert (Donna), and Donald (Shelby) Monk, and nephews Riley Pape, Ryan Pape, Scott Quamme, and Tyler Wohlers.
