Dora Jane Theobald

Dora Jane Theobald

February 16, 1928 March 10, 2026

Sandy, UT

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our mother extraordinaire, Dora Jane Simmons Theobald. Dora left us peacefully on Tuesday March 10, 2026, surrounded by loved ones in her home in Sandy, Utah.

Born February 16,1928, in Manti, Utah, Dora was the daughter of the late Elmer Bert Simmons

and Mabel Anderson Simmons and sister to 8 brothers and sisters. At 98 years old, she was the last living member of her immediate family. She was a woman of unwavering faith, humor, and a quiet grace who touched the lives of those who knew her.

Dora attended high school in Manti, Utah and in 1948 at the age of 20 married her lifelong husband, Randle Ernest Theobald. She and Randle went on to have 6 children. Not only was she devoted to caring for her children, but she also worked outside of the home building a career that helped support the family and gathered her many friends. She was an avid gardener and preferred working outside with her plants much more than doing dishes or vacuuming. Up until she passed, she was talking about her plans for her garden in the spring. She was an excellent cook, and her homemade bread was gone the day it was baked. She had a fun sense of humor and was a bit of a flirt. She really enjoyed having people around her.

Dora is survived by her children, Catherine Hawkins, Laura Jeanne Blanchard, Marion March and Shawn Fischer and her many, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, her husband Randle and her sons Randle Lunt Theobald and Kent Ernest Theobald.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the LDS Peruvian Ward at 1500 East 8600 South, Sandy, Utah. There will be a viewing on the same day before the funeral from 10 - 10:45 AM at the same location.

Interment will be held on Thursday March 19, 2026, at the Manti City Cemetery at 12:00 noon.
