Donnie Harris ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Cox-McNulty Funeral Home - Barberton on Mar. 17, 2026.Donnie Harris, age 73, of Barberton Ohio, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of faith, service, and love that touched countless lives.Donnie dedicated over 25 years of his life as a letter carrier in Akron, where he was a proud and active member of NALC Branch 148. Throughout his more than 40 years of membership and service, he faithfully served as a union steward, trustee, and recording secretary, advocating for and supporting his fellow carriers."Santa Claus" for family and friends, Donnie brought joy and warmth wherever he went. He was a gifted artist with a beautiful tenor voice, often sharing his talents to uplift and inspire others.His devotion to ministry spanned more than 50 years as a Sunday school teacher and children's minister. Alongside his beloved wife, Judy, he brought smiles to generations of children while performing magic as "Eugene the Clown." Donnie also cherished the Boy Scouts of America, mentoring young people with patience, wisdom, and kindness.In his later years, Donnie found immense joy in his role as "Poppi," a loving grandfather and great-grandfather. His bond with his beloved great-granddaughter, Juniper, was especially dear to his heart.A lifelong and devoted member of Barberton Apostolic Church, Donnie lived his life in service to God. His faith was the foundation of everything he did, and he was a shining example of compassion, humility, and devotion to all who knew him.He was preceded in death by his father, Donald K. Harris; his brother-in-law, Barry Carey; and his infant daughter.Donnie is survived by his mother Jean Harris; his loving wife of 51 years, Judy Harris, whom he cherished as his queen; his son, Ben Harris; his daughter-in-love, Dawn; his granddaughters, Jonelle (Matt), Justine, and Juniper; his sisters, Christy Halchak and Cynthia Carey; and his brother, Tim Harris.He is also survived by his brothers-in-law, Robert (Ellen) McCoy and Daniel (Beth) McCoy; his sister-in-law, Lori (Carmon) Severson; and many beloved nieces and nephews: Kristin (Chad) Teitz, Chad Jr., Trevor, Brock, Julie (Tracy) Ionta, Jeremiah (Fran) Carey, James, Elena, Jonathan (Rachelle) Halchak, Landon, Layna, Mariah (Murilo) Vichiett, Randy McCoy, Kelly (Mark) Cramer, Zachary, Audrey, Daniel (Jessica) McCoy, Ellie, and Addison.Donnie's life was marked by his unwavering faith, his servant's heart, and his deep love for family and community. He will be deeply missed by all who had the blessing of knowing him.Calling hours will be held on Sunday, March 22, 2026 at Barberton Apostolic Church, 1717 W. Turkeyfoot Lake Road, Barberton, Ohio 44203, from 3:00–5:00 p.m., followed by a service at 5:00 p.m. A light meal will be served immediately following the service at the church.
