Donna Mary Chambers

April 16, 1947 March 11, 2026

Charlestown, RI

Donna Chambers of Charlestown passed peacefully on March 11, 2026, at Westerly Hospital. Born on April 16, 1947, in Providence, Rhode Island, to Joseph and Mary (Foti) Lynch, she was married to Michael Chambers for 56 years. She was the devoted mother of Sarah Eager (Kevin) of Smithfield and Benjamin Aaron (Lisa) of California, and the incredibly proud grandmother of Eleanor, Aidan, and Lucy Eager and Emi and Maddie Chambers, who were the loves of her life.

A lifelong educator, Donna earned a Bachelor of Education from Rhode Island College and a Master of Education from the University of Rhode Island. She helped countless individuals earn their high school diplomas through the External Diploma Program in both Virginia and Rhode Island. She worked closely with the Genesis Center in Providence to develop career training programs and served for many years on the Chariho School Committee, where supporting educational opportunities remained her highest priority. Through RICAN, she also delivered food weekly to homebound residents in her community.

Donna was known for her generous spirit and her remarkable ability to make everyone around her feel seen and valued. She offered encouragement and a helping hand freely to family, friends, and strangers alike, often forming instant connections that made each person feel like a friend. She found joy in simple moments spent with her family and many friends, in celebrations with loved ones, and in meaningful conversations. An avid knitter, she created love-filled gifts for those dear to her and generously taught others to knit, expanding her circle with warmth and patience. She also loved to travel and especially cherished her time in the Azores.

Though she is no longer with us, Donna’s voice, courage, joy, and love continue to live on in the many lives she touched and the causes she championed. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
