Donna M. Edwards

Donna M. Edwards of Mill Rift, Pennsylvania, passed away on March 12, 2026, at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, New York. She was 85.

Born on October 20, 1940, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Donna was the daughter of the late William Spathelf and the late Ruth Colwell Spathelf. She married John R. “Jack” Edwards on June 27, 1959, in Scranton, and they shared 55 years of marriage until his passing on February 11, 2015. Donna worked as an instructional assistant at Delaware Valley Middle School in Milford, Pennsylvania, and served as secretary of the Mill Rift Cemetery Association.

She is survived by her son, John “Jay” Edwards; her daughter, Jacqueline Edwards; her brother, William Spathelf; her brother Lawrence Spathelf and his wife Sharon; her sister, Sandra Luby; and her sister Ruth Horwatt and her husband Peter. She also leaves five grandchildren, Megan Smith, Morgan Acuff, Chelsea Acuff, Sebastian Edwards, and Ryan Edwards; one great-grandson, Barrett; and her son-in-law, Mark Smith.

Donna was predeceased by her daughter, Karen Smith; her sister, Roylene Ashman; her brother, Robert Spathelf; her brother-in-law, James Luby; and her sister-in-law, Joyce Spathelf.
