Donna Kay Chyma

Donna Kay Chyma, 84, of Moline, passed away on the evening of March 12, 2026, at Hope Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in East Moline, Illinois.

Born on May 26, 1941, in Mattoon, Illinois, to James and Helen (Morton) Ruland, Donna graduated from Mattoon Community High School in 1959. She worked as a legal secretary at Craig & Craig law firm in Mattoon when she met David Chyma. The couple married on September 17, 1961, in Mattoon.

Donna held various secretarial positions before becoming a Mary Kay Cosmetics beauty consultant in 1984. For more than forty years she took pride in helping women look and feel their best, remaining a vibrant example of the company’s ideals with her own beautiful, youthful skin. She retired from Mary Kay in 2024. While her children were young, she was deeply involved in the PTA and supported all their activities. A dedicated member of Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church for over fifty years, Donna enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, Scrabble, cards, Hallmark movies, and time with friends, yet her greatest joy was found with her family. She cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren and her little dog, Charlie, filling their lives with laughter and fond memories.

She is survived by her son Mike Chyma of Moline, son Tim (Tara) Chyma of Ripon, Wisconsin, and daughter Deb (Neil) Hamilton of Orion, Illinois; granddaughters Lauren, Morgan, and Carley Chyma; grandsons Jacob, Nick, and Josh Hamilton; her sister Iona (George) Gollick of Heber, Arizona; nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog Charlie. Donna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dave, her sister Lois Abbott, and her grandson Nathaniel Hamilton.
