Donna Glea "Douglas" Burton

Donna Glea Burton, age 68, of Muleshoe, Texas, passed away on March 13, 2026. Born on November 8, 1957, in Pampa, Texas, to Jack Douglas and Betty Ruth (Merrell) Douglas, Donna grew up as one of two children in a lively household. Her father’s government work gave her the chance to experience life in Texas, New Mexico, and Virginia, shaping her into a fun-loving and active young woman.

After high school, Donna pursued her passion for caring for others by attending nursing school and becoming a Licensed Vocational Nurse. In 1985 she met Terry Burton in Lubbock, Texas, and they married on March 15, 1986. The couple made their home in Muleshoe, where they were joined by Terry’s son, Lance Alton Burton, and welcomed their daughter, Morgan Shea Marricle (Burton), in 1987.

Donna built a long and dedicated career in nursing, working in hospitals, doctors’ offices, and nursing homes. After fifteen years as an LVN, she returned to school to earn her Registered Nurse license. She found her greatest professional joy as the school nurse at Dillman Elementary in Muleshoe, serving there for seventeen years before retiring. She was known for her kindness, knowledge, and deep commitment to those in her care.

Above all, Donna cherished her family. She enjoyed traveling with Terry to his golf tournaments in the early years of their marriage and later found simple pleasures in movies, reading, and crafts. Her playful, imaginative spirit and love of silliness made her especially dear to her grandchildren, who affectionately called her “RaRa.” She was a devoted and encouraging mother to Morgan, and their bond grew into a close, lifelong friendship marked by daily calls and texts. Donna is remembered as a beloved daughter, wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend whose warmth and wisdom touched everyone who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jack Douglas; mother-in-law, Alma Burton (Beckett); grandparents, Warren and Johnnie Merrell and Johnnie and Vestal Douglas; stepfather, Berry Wood; and grandson, Emmett Reid Marricle.

Donna is survived by her mother, Betty Ruth Wood of Muleshoe; her husband, Terry Burton of Muleshoe; her daughter, Morgan Marricle and husband Ryan of Muleshoe; stepson, Lance Burton of Snyder; brother, Don Douglas and wife Laura of Midland; grandchildren, Kace and Axel Marricle of Muleshoe, and Tessa Goodwin and husband Colton of Bledsoe; father-in-law, Alton Burton of Muleshoe; sister-in-law, Tanya Crawford and husband Doug of Lubbock; great-grandson, Nash Goodwin of Bledsoe; nephews, Caleb Douglas of Midland, Jason Crawford and wife Jessica of Sanger, and Tucker Crawford and fiancée Lauren Miller of Lubbock; niece, Ashley Hines and husband Shawn of Celina; and many great-nieces and nephews.
