Donna Flowers ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Goldfinch Funeral Home - Beach Chapel - Murrells Inlet on Mar. 17, 2026.On March 1,2026, Donna Camille Flowers lost her battle with dementia. She was born on Christmas Day,1938, a gift to her parents, Maizie and Granville Simmons. She is survived by her brother, John Simmons, her daughter, Karla Johnson, and her grandchildren, Colin Arthur Johnson, his wife Rachel, and David Jeffrey Flowers. There will be a party for her on Sunday, April 12, 2026 From 1-3 pm at Inlet Affairs in Murrells Inlet, SC.Donna was a graduate of Annandale High School in Annandale, VA. She spent a great part of her life in the Springfield-Annandale area where she raised a family with Carl Flowers and their children, Karla and Jeff, who she lost on January 22,1997. She found love a second time with Richard Jones, aka 'Pops', who is survived by his daughter, Bonnie Jones Reedy and her family, and his son, Richard V Jones Jr.Together Donna and Dick spent 33 years and touched the lives of all who knew them. After retiring from the Department of Commerce where she held the Government together, she moved to Millenbeck, VA, and along with Pops, made new friends and kept the old. Always known as 'the life of the party', an invitation to their home, 'Roads End', on the river meant good times for all. Early into retirement she joined the team to open the Northern Neck Free Health Clinic in Millenbeck, where she worked and also volunteered much of her free time. After losing Pops and saying goodbye to VA, she packed her bags and joined Karla in SC. Her joys were her new friends, her condo, the beach, pool and weather. You could mostly find her on the porch in her white wicker rocker reading the latest novel. Her dearest cats Peeps and Angel kept her company until a health decline caused her to need a roomie. Karla moved in March 1, 2019, and together they spent the next 7 years, to the day, in Pawleys Island. She was diagnosed with Dementia in June of 2023 and had been fighting every day since. In October, 2026, Hospice took over her care. She passed in the loving arms of her daughter who opened the windows for her spirit to soar to....To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
