Schumacher, 68, of Pulaski, passed away on March 12, 2026, following a brief illness.Don was born on May 10, 1957, to Darwin and Dorothy (Moore) Schumacher in Green Bay. He graduated from Green Bay West High School with the Class of 1975. Following high school, he worked at Northern Paper in Green Bay as a millwright for 40 years, retiring in February 2017.On October 4, 1991, Don married Nancy Ladowski at Assumption B.V.M. Church in Pulaski.In his earlier years, Don earned the nicknames "Don Wisconsin" and "Camper Don," a fitting tribute to his deep love of the outdoors and camping. He took great pride in tending to his apple and pear orchard and grape vineyard, using the fruit to make and enjoy wine with family. Don enjoyed spending time hunting and hiking around his land up north and at home – nature was truly one of his loves. He especially liked watching birds, looking forward to the return of the sandhill cranes and the red-winged blackbirds each spring. Don enjoyed watching Packers games with family over the years. You could always count on him for a good laugh.Don is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy; his two children: Nick (Hannah) Schumacher, their son Evan and another child on the way, and Molly Schumacher (Adam Lynch); and his siblings: Nancy (Richard) Schrbier, Sandy Grossman, James Schumacher (Stephen Strauser), Debbie (Dennis) Pieschek, and Steve Schumacher (Phill Schliecher). He is further survived by his mother-in-law, Mariann Kroll; his brothers- and sisters-in-law: Carole Schumacher, Mark (Barb) Ladowski, Chris (Leah) Kroll, and Dean (Suzette) Kroll; along with several nieces, nephews, and other family members.He was preceded in death by his parents, Darwin and Dorothy Schumacher; his father-in-law, Anton Ladowski; his stepfather-in-law, Walter Kroll; his sister and brother-in-law, Barb (Jim) LePage; his brother, Robert Schumacher; his brother-in-law, Jim Grossman; and his sister-in-law, Joan Ladowski.A Celebration of Don's Life is being planned and will be held later this spring.The family would like to thank brothers-in-law Mark and Dean; the staff of Bellin Health Hospital 4th Floor; the Unity Hospice Team; and Bellin Oncology, especially Anne, Palliative NP, as well as nurses Marissa, Lauren H., Olivia, Mary, and Chaplain Maria for their compassionate care.The family requests that no flowers be sent.
