March 7, 1945— March 6, 2026
Boardman, OH
Donald T. Weingart passed away on March 6, 2026, surrounded by his family.
Born on March 7, 1945, in Youngstown, Ohio, he was the son of Donald S. Weingart and the former Veronica Thomcsak. A West Sider, Don graduated from Chaney High School in 1963 and attended Youngstown University before enlisting in the United States Navy. He served four years aboard the USS O’Hare, completing two world tours and serving in Vietnam.
Upon his discharge, he married Kathleen “Kathy” Donatiello on Thanksgiving Day. Their marriage lasted 56 years. Don worked for ten years as a boilermaker for U.S. Steel before its closing, then spent the next 26 years at Fisher Body in Lordstown, Ohio. He loved the outdoors and spent many years hunting across numerous states, including out West. A talented musician, he learned to play seven instruments, with the bass guitar remaining his favorite.
After retiring, Don’s passion for the woods led him to carve walking sticks and canes by hand. What began as a hobby behind his house grew into a beloved pursuit; he crafted these pieces as gifts for friends and family across the country and later sold them at the Vietnam Wall in Washington, DC, where his military canes were especially cherished. He was a lifelong member of the VFW Post 4237 in Austintown, Ohio.
His greatest joys were his daughter, Dorianne, and the two grandsons she gave him, Anthony and Santino Campoli. They became the sons he never had, and he and Dori shared a close bond, working together to craft furniture and refinish antiques. He also enjoyed working out at the YMCA, playing cards, and visiting casinos.
In addition to his wife, Kathy, Don leaves behind his daughter, Dorianne (Anthony Jr.) Campoli; grandsons Anthony and Santino Campoli; twin sisters, Mary Weingart of Riverside, California, and Martha (Marty) Wilmitch of Canfield; and sisters-in-law Christine Felleti and Marilyn Weingart. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Michael and Kenneth, as well as his in-laws Rick and Lupe Donatiello.
