Donald Ray Ayres

Donald Ray Ayres, 76, of New Port Richey, Florida, passed away on March 11, 2026. Born in Frankfort, Kentucky, on June 8, 1949, he spent most of his life in Owenton, Kentucky, before moving to Florida in 2013.

Don is survived by his wife of 27 years, Sue Ayres, his granddaughter Sarah (Stanley) Ayres Patton, his great-grandchildren Carter, Caelyn, and Cooper Patton, and three nephews. He adored his granddaughter and great-grandchildren and took great joy in their lives. He was preceded in death by his son, Jeff Ayres, his mother Myra Cooper Ayres, his father Atwood Ayres, and his brothers David and Johnny Ayres.

A lifelong farmer, Don often shared stories of his days raising tobacco. He was a skilled and intelligent carpenter who, alongside his son, could build anything asked of him. Later in life he delivered home medical equipment, always approaching his work with pride and care. He never met a stranger, loved making people laugh and smile, and took pleasure in discovering unique treasures and antiques. A man of Baptist faith, he was a member of Faith Baptist Church in New Port Richey.

He will be deeply missed by his loving family and friends.
