Born on December 28, 1930, in Glendive, Montana to the late Henry and Susie (nee: Richert) SchoenwaldDonald earned a Bachelor's degree in General Science from Wheaton College in Illinois. It was there he met the love of his life, Anita. The young couple's shared passion for knowledge and commitment to faith forged an unbreakable bond, leading them to exchange wedding vows on June 20, 1953.The era following his graduation saw Donald bravely serving his country as a proud member of the United States Army. After his time in the service, Donald's sharp mind and meticulous skillset led him to a distinguished career with IBM, where he worked as a Service Planner and Customer Engineer. For nearly 35 years, he devoted himself to the role, demonstrating an exceptional work ethic and precision before retiring in 1989.Beyond his professional and military service, Donald was an active leader and cherished member of various church fellowships throughout their married lives, most recently at the Leroy Community Chapel, where he not only practiced his faith but lived it through his actions and fellowship with others.He is survived by his beloved wife, Anita. They have 3 sons, Dale (Sherry), Gary (Denise), and Ken (Janelle); son-in-law, Dean; who have given them 13 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren.In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, A. Kenneth; daughter-in-law, Sherry; grandchildren, Jenna and Jace; siblings, Eva Boese, Harvey Schoenwald, Delphia Sawatzky, Irene Smith, Johanna Schoenwald, Delores Peters, and Lila Schoenwald.Friends will be received on Friday March 22 from 9am until the memorial service at 10:00am at Leroy Community Chapel, 12920 Painesville Warren Rd., Painesville, Ohio 44077. Interment will be at Williams Cemetery on Vrooman Rd.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Handi Camp at www.HVMI.orgTo plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
