He was born in Jackson County, Indiana March 22, 1936 to Clarence R. and Verna Bode Colvin. Don lived in Columbus most of his life. He graduated from High School there and then served his country in the US Navy. He married Geraldine on February 17, 1968 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Columbus, where he was a member for many years.Don worked is life as a carpenter for 45 years, retiring from Dunlap Construction as a Superintendent. He loved to build and built a barn on the homeplace with his son, Ron. He loved being outdoors. He wasn't one to sit and watch TV unless he was watching cartoons with the grandkids. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding horses, shooting guns at the Gun Club and watching his favorite Nascar driver, Dale Jarrett.He is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Vicki and a sister Carolyn. Surviving to cherish his memories are his wife, Geraldine, his son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Connie Colvin, his daughter, Terri Jessie and his sister, Nancy Petro. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jason and Jennifer Colvin, Kaitlyn Colvin, Christine and Joshua Whipker and Beth Ann Jessie, and 11 great-grandchildren.A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, March 12, 2026 at Fairview Cemetery, 610 N. High Street, Brownstown, Indiana.Arrangements have been entrusted to the caring staff at Voss and Sons Funeral and Cremation Service, 316 N.
