Donald LaReau

Donald E. LaReau, age 81, of Stratford, beloved husband of Bonnie Starrett LaReau, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026. Born in Bridgeport on September 4, 1944, to the late Wilfred and Mary (Morris) LaReau, Don was a lifelong area resident. A graduate of Bullard Havens Technical High School, he retired from the Carpenters Union Local #326 after a long career. He served his country as a U.S. Army combat veteran of the Vietnam War, proudly serving with the 1st Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment “Jumping Mustangs,” and faithfully attended regimental reunions for thirty years.

Don was deeply committed to veterans’ causes and served as Commander of VFW Post #7788 in Milford for several years. He was a devoted family man who cherished his 58 years of marriage to Bonnie and the love of his children and granddaughter. He is survived by his wife Bonnie, his son David LaReau of Stratford, his daughter Marcia Bellerose and her husband Mark of Manchester, New Hampshire, and his cherished granddaughter Jessica Bellerose of Maine. He also leaves his brothers Richard LaReau of Bridgeport and William LaReau and his wife Linda of Shelton, along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Don was predeceased by his brother Gerald and his sister Monica.
