Donald Brom ObituaryVisit the Cypress-Fairbanks Funeral Home website to view the full obituary.9/9/1951 – 3/3/2026Donald James Brom peacefully transitioned to the arms of God on March 3, 2026. Don was born and raised in Moulton, TX., son of Daniel and Martha Brom. His siblings are Patricia Hudson (sister) and husband Mike, of La Grange, Robert (Bob) Brom (brother) and wife Mary, of Columbus and Barbara Jasek (sister) and husband Sidney (Sid) of Hallettsville. Uncle to nieces and nephews and their spouses and Great Uncle to the younger generation.Donald was an active member of Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church in the Cypress, TX.Don married Shirley Pilat on August 14, 1971, (54 years) welcoming and loving three children. Michael, Suzanne and Laura. When all 3 went off to Texas A&M, it was not a house divided; spouses were Aggies! It was meant to be!Donald attended St. John's Seminary in the early years 1965/1966 and 1966-1967. After 2 years, he came home and completed his high school education in Moulton graduating in 1969. He attended Durham Business College in Austin, graduating in October 1970. Big city life must have been calling him as were Moultonite employees working at Waukesha-Pearce in Houston. After a few years he accepted a position with HL&P/Reliant Energy. He had a love for the electrical/technical field. Those work friends he continued to stay in touch with till the very end. He was a self-learner and would always ask if "we read the instructions". His class of 1969 held so many memories, reunions every 5 years and then every 2 years. Everyone just wanted those lasting friendships. He enjoyed spending time with his fishing, domino buddies, loved dancing and the neighbors he saw come and go as the family lived on the same street since 1975. Donald and Shirley planned to travel more, but that was not meant to be. If anyone needed any sort of help, he was always available. He gave of himself and never asked for anything in return. What brought him the most happiness was seeing his children, their spouses and grandchildren, be good people, loyal friends and leading a productive life.He is survived by his Son Michael Brom, son Zachary, of Cypress; daughter Suzanne and husband Brandon Willeford, children, Kyle and Emerson of Cypress; daughter Laura and husband Nick Whitefield, children Audrey, Ethan, and Elle currently stationed with the military in Okinawa, Japan.Special kindness to Tracy and Abby for being the support Michael and Kyle needed.Special thank you to all our relatives, friends, neighbors, work relationships, friends of friends that reached out and gave support to our family during his illness and the days, weeks that followed.Watch over us dad, father-in-law, Popo and husband as you did when you were here!Thank you for a wonderful life, lots of memories that will continue to make us smile.Love you always, ShirleyRead The Full ObituaryTo plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
