Potter, 81, of Carney passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at Aurora Medical Center-BayArea, surrounded by his family. He was born to the late Norris and Hazel (Farr) Potter on July 4, 1944, in Menominee. Don graduated from Menominee High School in 1963. He worked as a truck driver and Teamster member with Fairway Foods for 31 years traveling all over the U.P. He then worked for Menominee County Intermediate School District for 25 years, retiring last May.On September 10, 2004, Don married Polly Wiegers in Menominee. Together they enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending all their time together. His love of the outdoors also included spending time riding in the side by side, walking looking at the fall leaves, woodworking, taking long rides, bonfires with friends, and cooking steaks out on the open fire. He also loved spending time with his cherished family. Don was a very caring person that put others before himself, helping anyone in need and believing you should look over your shoulder there is always someone less fortunate than you.Don is survived by the love of his life, Polly Potter of Carney; daughter, Julie (Kip) Englund of Menominee; step son, Jacob (Tricia) Leanna of Porterfield; son in law, Jay Lamoureux of Crystal Falls, MI; grandchildren: Courtney (Christian Bunyan) Gaynes, Mariah (Skyler) Wachal, and Hailey Leanna; great grandchildren, Clara and Holsten Wachal. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jackie "DeeDee" Lamoureux; brother, Loren Potter; sisters, Carol Ruleford and Annamae Erickson; and his in laws, Wart and Eva Wiegers.Visitation will be held at Thielen Funeral Home on Friday, March 20th from 4-6pm. Funeral Services will be held at 6pm. En lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.The family would like to thank the ICU nurses and staff at Bay Area, he loved them all and they fought tooth and nail to keep him here until the end.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
