March 20, 1942 March 7, 2026

Sheboygan, WI

Don Gerber, 83, of Sheboygan, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 7, 2026, at UW Health University Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin.

Born on March 20, 1942, in the Town of Rhine, Sheboygan County, to the late Gustave Gerber Jr. and Mary Ann Gerber (née Mayer), Don graduated from Plymouth High School in 1960. An Eagle Scout and member of his high school basketball team, he went on to serve in the Medical Corps of the United States Army. He later built a distinguished career in sales, first with Cutco Cutlery and then in real estate for more than 40 years. He began with Lee Realty of Sheboygan, Inc., which became Coldwell Banker, and was recognized many times for excellence in sales.

Don was deeply involved in his community and church. A longtime member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, he served on the Board of Church Properties and as an usher. He also held leadership roles as Vice-President of the Sheboygan Jaycees, President of the Sheboygan Evening Lions Club—where he received the Melvin Jones Fellow award—and President of the Sheboygan City Board of Realtors. He served as Chairman of the Board of Appeals for the City of Sheboygan. In his free time, Don cherished moments with his grandchildren, ran daily, bowled in the men’s league at Lakeshore Lanes, and enjoyed games of cribbage and sheepshead.

He was preceded in death by his wife Hilda, parents, sister Betty Kalk, and brother Glenn. Don is survived by his daughter Debbie Rasmussen of Cedarburg, son Dave Gerber (Jill) of Whitewater, grandchildren Ryan and Evan Rasmussen, and Ben and Griffin Gerber, as well as sisters Bonnie Gerber of Sheboygan and Denise Knapp of Plymouth.
