Donald Fernand “Don” Lachance passed away on March 6, 2026, in Midwest City, Oklahoma, at the age of 88. He was born on December 1, 1937, in Lewiston, Maine, to Wilfred and Alexandrine (Pomerleau) Lachance.

Don grew up in Maine and on May 18, 1957, he married the love of his life, Louise Cecile Begin. Together they built a life centered around faith, hard work, and family, raising eight children. The couple spent the first twenty years of their marriage in Maine before relocating to McLoud, Oklahoma in 1978. In 1999, they made their home in Harrah, where they continued to enjoy life surrounded by their children, grandchildren, and friends.

Don worked as a millwright for General Motors in Oklahoma City for nearly thirty years, a career that reflected his strong work ethic and dedication to providing for his family.

An avid outdoorsman, Don truly felt at home in nature. He loved hunting and fishing and pursued many types of game throughout the years, including bear, elk, caribou, and deer. The outdoors brought him great joy and many stories that he loved to share.

Known for his colorful personality, Don was a man of many words and a quick wit. There was never a dull moment when he was around, and he had a way of leaving everyone with a smile and a story to remember. His larger-than-life presence created countless cherished memories for those who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Raymond Lachance; his daughter, Aline Smith; his grandson, Adam Ashley; his granddaughter, Lindsey Horn; his great-grandson, Solomon McCraw; and two brothers, Jerry Lachance and Roland Lachance.

Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of more than 68 years, Louise Lachance; his sons, Donald Lachance Jr. and his wife, Nancy, and John Lachance and his wife, Vivian; his daughters, Terry Fortelney and her husband, Leo, Claire Voyles and her partner, Bill Charles, Pauline Danna and her husband, Billy, and Susan Ledet and her husband, Doug; his son-in-law, Tom Smith; two brothers, Lionel Lachance and Maurice Lachance; twenty-six grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
