Donald Elarton ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Bulman Miles Funeral Services, Globe on Mar. 9, 2026.Donald Elarton, 77, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2026, in Globe, Arizona, surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 6, 1948, in Centerville, Iowa, Donald lived a life of service, dedication, and love for his family. Donald proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps from 1968 to 1974. Rising to the rank of Sergeant, he received an honorable discharge in September 1974. Following his military service, Donald continued his commitment to public service as a deputy with the Pinal County Sheriff's Department. During his time there, he earned recognition for exemplary service and dedication to his duties. It was during his tenure as a deputy that Donald met the love of his life, Maria. The two were married on April 14, 1979, and together they built a life filled with love and devotion. They eventually settled in Phoenix, Arizona, where they raised their daughter Amanda. Donald later embarked on a distinguished career with the Arizona Department of Corrections which ultimately returned him to Florence, AZ in 1988. Over the years, he held various roles ranging from officer to lieutenant and also served as a firearms instructor. Donald had a deep appreciation for history and enjoyed reading about lawmen of the past. He was also an avid fan of westerns-a pastime that reflected his admiration for courage and justice. However, above all else, Donald cherished time spent with his family. He was a devoted husband and father who always put Maria and Amanda first. In later years, Donald found renewed joy in being a grandfather to Michael Loyd. His bond with Michael was extraordinary-he dedicated himself wholeheartedly to teaching him, playing with him, reading to him, singing songs together, and creating countless cherished memories. Every morning began with breakfast lovingly prepared for Michael; every evening ended with a kiss on the forehead and heartfelt words: "I love you." Donald is survived by his daughter Amanda (Sean) Loyd; grandson Michael Loyd; sisters Donna Pierce; Dana (Jennifer) Elarton; Dawn (Gregory) Vaughn; brothers William (Brock) Elarton; Darren (Debra) Elarton; and Valree Elarton, as well as many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Maria Elarton; parents Barbara Helen Elarton (née Grindle) and Donald Loren Elarton; and brother Dennis Elarton. Donald's legacy is one of unwavering dedication-to his country through military service, to his community through law enforcement and corrections work, and most importantly to his family through boundless love and care. His memory will forever be treasured by those who knew him. May Donald's life serve as an inspiration to all who were fortunate enough to share in it.Services for Donald E.
