He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Gens and Ella Gens (Keehn); his siblings, Lorentz Gens (Norva), Delta Keitzer (Harold) and Esther Boeck (Anton); his brother-in-law Lyle Berry (Sylvia); and his granddaughter Jody Vantine.

He is survived by: his children, Barbara Vantine (James) and Rodney Gens (Brenda); his grandchildren, Christa Kreutter (Lee), Katie Vantine, Jill Terrell (Dave), Terri Ingraham (Scott), Darrin Gens (Lindsay) and Matt Gens (Lacy Wellman); and his great grandchildren, Kaitlin, Ashlynn Kreutter, Jackson, Ella Ingraham, Logan and Weston Gens. He is also survived by niece and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 14th 2026 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church - Madelia (406 W Main St, Madelia, MN 56062). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 14th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
