November 12, 1947— March 7, 2026
Cincinnati, OH
Donald E. Metz, a devoted family man, passed away on March 7, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on November 12, 1947, in Cincinnati, Donnie lived a full life centered on his loved ones and his career.
He served in the United States Marine Corps after enlisting out of high school and was a Vietnam War veteran who carried a deep love for his country. Donnie spent 39 years at Ford Motor Company before retiring in 2018. He was a dedicated husband to his wife Beverley for 51 years, and together they created countless cherished memories, including family beach vacations and travels to Major League Baseball parks across the country.
An enthusiastic sports fan, Donnie was affectionately known as “Coach Metz” for coaching his sons’ baseball teams, particularly the Wyoming Meat Market team. He took special joy in loading the kids into the back of his truck for Dairy Queen treats after games. A diehard supporter of the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals, he proudly cheered for his children and grandchildren in their many sports and activities. He also enjoyed coin collecting, golfing with his sons, and caring for his beloved Ford truck, Old Smokie, which reflected his own dependable and strong character.
Donnie is survived by his daughter Mitzi Neal and her husband Jeff; his sons Joseph Metz and his wife Erin, Stephen Metz and his wife Kelly, and Bradley Metz and his wife Carrie. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Hannah Monnig and her husband Josh, Brooke Young and her husband Keith, and Wyatt, Samuel, Cooper, Charles, Parker, and Emerson, as well as his great-grandson Carson Monnig, who brought him great joy and pride. He was preceded in death by his wife Beverley Metz (Salyers), his parents William and Jean Metz (Jones), and his sister Carol Metz.
