Donald Eugene Amon, Jr., 81, passed away on February 23, 2026, in Fort Worth, Texas. He was born on July 19, 1944, in Mercer, to Betty Maxine (Johnson) and Donald Eugene Amon.

The family will receive family and friends from 6pm to 8pm on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Pkwy., Arlington, Texas 76013. A funeral service will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Fielder Church (South Oaks), 5925 US 287 Frontage Rd., Arlington, Texas 76017. Don will be laid to rest at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas, Texas.

Don was a man of deep faith, steadfast dedication, and unwavering love for his family. He earned his Master of Business Administration degree, graduating Summa Cum Laude from University of Texas at Arlington. His academic achievements reflected the discipline and commitment that defined his life.

He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, where he worked aboard aircraft carriers repairing Heads-Up Displays (HUDs) for jets, ensuring the safety and readiness of those who flew them. Following his military service, Don built a distinguished career as a manufacturing electronics engineer and later worked in armed security. His strong work ethic and technical skill earned him the respect of colleagues and friends alike.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Don was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He loved singing tenor in his church choir and was a loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys. A gifted handyman, he was always ready to help family members with projects big or small. He found joy working in his yard, taking pride in a job well done, and above all, he cherished being “Dad.” To his children and grandchildren, he was simply the best.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Jill Dolores Amon; his children, Brian Amon, Brad Amon, Carter (Sarah) Amon, and Emily Elliott; his grandchildren, Dan Amon, Allison Amon, Hank Amon, Dean Amon, Sam Amon, Sean Amon, Joshua Amon, David Amon, Elijah Amon, Josiah Amon, and Ada Amon; and his great-grandson, Ivan Amon.

He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Ron (Rhonda) Amon, Connie (Tim) Toops, Bonnie (Mike) Zedreck, Tom (Deb) Amon, Tim (Elaine) Amon, and Suzanne (Bob) Draper; as well as his in-laws, Dr. James (Jan) Allman, Matt Hibbard, and Don (Joanna) Curtiss.

Don’s legacy is one of service, integrity, generosity, and love. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.
