He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph C. Hawthorne and Oda T. Hawthorne (Snyder); and his wife Judith "Judy" Louise. He is survived by: his children, Lori McBride (Patrick) of Beach City, Donald D. Hawthorne, Jr. (Andrea) of Coshocton and Jeffery James of New Philadelphia; his grandchildren, Christopher Eggerton (Kristy) of Wooster, Scott Eggerton of Strasburg, Jennifer Sica (Nate) of Dover, Hayley McBride of Beach City, Brittany Barker (Sam) of New Philadelphia, Bronson Hawthorne and Grace Hawthorne of Coshocton; and his sister Marilyn Hudson. He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 12th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory (116 2nd St NE, New Philadelphia, OH 44663).
