Donald Craig Blackman, 81, of the Kahite Community in Vonore, passed away on March 13, 2026, at Parkwest Medical Center. A graduate of Purdue University with a degree in civil engineering, he enjoyed a distinguished 35-year career with Caterpillar. Donald was a man of many talents and quiet passions—an avid gardener, skilled mechanic, woodworker, and builder. He took special pride in creating and tending the Kahite Gardens, a lasting reflection of his love for the land and his community.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Verna Blackman, and his brother, Richard Blackman. Donald is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Carolyn Blackman; his daughters, Christine Carlton and Sherri Alvarez; his son, Craig Blackman; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Kathy Blackman.
He will be remembered for his steady presence, his creative hands, and the deep devotion he showed to his family and the gardens he so carefully cultivated.
