He grew up a proud Oklahoma boy and graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1959. After high school, Donald married the love of his life, Karen Kay "Barnum" Carroll on July 7, 1959 in Oklahoma City and shared 62 wonderful years of marriage before Karen's passing in 2022. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and service. Donald devoted much of his career to civil service at Tinker Air Force Base, working in propulsion engineering for more than 35 years before retiring in 2003 after nearly four decades of service. Known for his strong work ethic and problem-solving abilities, he took pride in his work and the contributions he made throughout his career. A man of many interests and talents, Donald had a remarkable ability to build, repair, or renovate just about anything, and he almost always had a project underway. He loved spending time outdoors camping, fishing, and hunting, often making cherished memories with family and friends during summer trips. Donald and his family enjoyed traveling together and visited nearly every state in the United States. After retiring, he took up golf, which quickly became one of his favorite pastimes. In later years, he enjoyed relaxing while watching golf and cheering on the Oklahoma City Thunder. Donald was deeply devoted to his faith and served as a deacon for most of his life. Over the years he faithfully served at First Free Will Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, Grace Free Will Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, and at his final church home, First Baptist Church of Moore, where he was honored as Deacon Emeritus. Following the passing of his beloved wife Karen, Donald moved to Touchmark, where he enjoyed the friendships he made with residents and staff and appreciated the welcoming community there. Donald was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Karen Carroll; his parents, Arthur and Edna Carroll; his sister, Nancy Kinsey; and his brother David Carroll. He is survived by his daughter, Janice Christol and her husband Gary; his granddaughter, Jennifer Lepard and her husband Shawn; and his two great-granddaughters, Madeline and Charlotte. He is also survived by many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews who will remember him with love.Donald will be remembered for his strong faith, steady character, generous spirit, and the love he had for his family. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched and the family who cherished him dearly.https://view.oneroomstreaming.com/index.php?data=MTc3MzUxNDIzMDQwNTE5MCZvbmVyb29tLWFkbWluJmNvcHlfbGluaw==Read The Full ObituaryTo plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
