Don Yana Lazo, a lifelong resident of Watsonville, California, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026, at the age of 80. Born on May 15, 1945, he lived a life defined by quiet dedication to his family, community, and country. Don served honorably as a Vietnam veteran in the United States Marine Corps from 1965 to 1968. After returning home, he continued to embody the values of hard work and integrity, eventually establishing Don Lazo Plumbing in 1991. Known for his strong work ethic, he took genuine pride in providing reliable service to the people of Watsonville.
He was also a co-founder of Streetside Hope, an effort that reflected his deep compassion and lifelong desire to support those in need. Those who knew him will remember his generosity, resilience, and the steady presence he offered to family and friends alike.
Don is survived by his loving wife, Sylvia Lazo; his children, Michelle Lazo and Christopher Lazo; his sister, Marcella Mateo; and four cherished grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer West; his brother, George Lazo Jr.; and his parents, George and Martha Lazo.
