Don Rice

Don Rice was born on January 12, 1950, in Russell, Kansas, to Edgar S. Rice and Lorene H. (Daniels) Rice, the second of three sons. He passed away at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas, on March 10, 2026, after a short illness.

A graduate of El Dorado High School in 1968, Don went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Fort Hays State University. He enjoyed a long and successful career in IT and security with Cessna, Boeing Aircraft, and Spirit Aerospace, retiring in 2014. In retirement, he stayed active and purposeful, volunteering regularly with Meals on Wheels and at West Side United Methodist Church in Wichita, where he and his wife Marsha were longtime members. He embraced a passion for pickleball, playing several times a week with both old and new friends right up until the final week of his life. He also cherished his time coaching softball for his daughters’ teams and later supporting his grandchildren’s athletic pursuits.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Lorene. He is survived by his wife, Marsha, of the home; daughters Tirzah (Bob) Hadley of Wichita, Kansas, and Amy (Daniel) Deisch of Wellsville, Kansas; granddaughters Rory Hadley, Samantha Hadley, and Annika Deisch; grandsons Ewan Hadley, Junius Deisch, Wilder Deisch, and Finn Deisch; older brother Dennis (Julie) Rice of Winfield, Kansas; and younger brother Delbert (Amey) Rice of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
