Don Reed Robertson

1946 — 2026

South Jordan, UT

Don Reed Robertson, age 79, passed away on March 10, 2026, at Meadow Peak Assisted Living Center in Taylorsville, Utah.

Born on September 9, 1946, in Moroni, Utah, to Ernest Jefferson Robertson and Rhoda Davis Robertson, Don grew up in Fountain Green and later Kearns. He attended junior high in Moroni, where he formed many lifelong friendships, and graduated from Granger High School in 1964.

Don proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1966 to 1970 and again from 1972 to 1976. Stationed at Ellsworth and Hamilton Air Force Bases and later at Ubon Royal Thai Air Force Base as an aircraft mechanic during the Vietnam War, he returned in 1976 to Hill Air Force Base as an aircraft mechanic supervisor. Known for his dedication, ingenuity, and faithful service, he retired in 2003.

On May 1, 1976, Don married Shirley Ann Ericksen. Together they built a life centered on family, friends, and their beloved pets. They shared a deep passion for horses, riding with the 7-11 Club for over 20 years and earning numerous trophies and belt buckles. Their dream home in South Jordan gave them space to raise and train horses while their dogs roamed and played as true members of the family. Don was a hardworking man who balanced his daily commute to Hill Air Force Base with tending to his barn, pasture, and horses. He cherished time in the mountains camping, hunting, fishing, and four-wheeling with friends, enjoyed golfing with his closest companions, and treasured quiet moments at home, especially his regular Monday morning visits with his brother Jeff.

He is survived by his brother, Jeff (Pat) Robertson. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley; his sisters, Karen (John) Jones and Betty (Larry) Devine; and his parents.
