Don Miskimon

Don Miskimon, a revered coach and teacher at Vidor Independent School District, passed away on March 8, 2026, in Groves, at the age of 85. Born on June 30, 1940, in Williamsburg, Kansas, he dedicated his life to shaping young minds and fostering athletic excellence within his community. His unwavering commitment to education and coaching left a lasting impact on generations of students and athletes.

Throughout his career, Don was known not only for his tactical knowledge of sports but also for his remarkable ability to inspire and motivate those around him. He stood as a proud grandfather and great-grandfather, embodying the values of family and mentorship. Don is survived by his beloved family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Wallace Miskimon, to whom he was married until her passing in 2019, and his stepson, Craig Lee Sanford.
