Don Swindle ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Meador Funeral Home - Whitesboro on Feb. 27, 2026.Don Kent Swindle, 89, of Collinsville, Texas passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at his home. Don was born on June 25, 1936 in Collinsville to James Melton and Marjorie Marie (Battenfield) Swindle.Don graduated from Collinsville High School in 1954 and went on to serve in the United States Air Force. While stationed at Biggs Air Force Base in El Paso he met the love of his life Shirley Ann Lowe. He and Shirley married in 1957. They were married 66 years until her death in 2023.An entrepreneur at heart, Don started his own communications business in the early 1960s. He and Shirley grew the business, Don's Radio in Gainesville, until they sold it in the mid-1970s and moved to Collinsville.Don was a dirt farmer, but his real passion was restoring and flying antique airplanes and restoring and driving antique cars. Throughout their marriage, he and Shirley traveled widely in their award-winning antiques. They made lifelong friends who shared their love for adventure, craftsmanship, and preservation of history.Don is survived by his daughter Donna Lee and husband, David, of Aubrey; his son Jim Swindle and his life partner, Inkee Kim, of San Antonio, along with many other loving family members and friends who have wonderful memories of and can tell great stories about Don.He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; his parents, Jim and Marie Swindle; his brother Charles Melton Swindle; and his sister, Jimmie Cooley.Funeral services honoring Don will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, March 5, 2026 at Meador Funeral Home of Whitesboro. Interment will follow at Collinsville Cemetery. A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please support a cause you care about, or take a ride in your antique car, or go around the pattern in your plane.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
