Dominic Todd ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Dryer Funeral Home, Inc. - Holly on Mar. 16, 2026.Dominic Randall Robert Todd, 19, of Davisburg, Michigan, passed away on March 16, 2026. Dominic was born on February 5, 2007, in Grand Blanc, Michigan.Dominic was the beloved son of Kristi and Robert Wells, and the cherished son of his father Richard (Sue) Bastuba. Dominic loved his family deeply, especially his siblings.Dominic would like you to know that he died while skydiving after a long road chase on a fast bike, Mission Impossible style. He looked good doing it, his hair was perfect, his beard trimmed, his outfit was on point, and the shoes, the shoes were spotless. In truth, Dominic would like you to know that he fought the beast known as chordoma with all that he had. If he could still be here, he would. He loved us all and would want us to celebrate his life and hold his memory close to our hearts. After beating cancer once, Dominic was determined to get on with living life. At just 17 years old, he began searching for his own apartment, and the following summer, he proudly moved out on his own at 18 with no roommates. It was an accomplishment he was incredibly proud of. Dominic also took great pride in his work at Blackthorn Pub, where he loved cooking, creating recipes, and helping lead the team during the summer season.Dominic loved driving fast in both cars and bikes, spending time with his friends, and making what he liked to call "good trouble." He was funny, quick with a joke, and loved teasing the people he cared about. Beneath that humor was a fiercely loyal heart-Dominic defended those he loved and expected others to treat them well. He was a dedicated friend and a protective brother.Dominic understood that his cancer was rare and aggressive. When researchers from the National Institutes of Health approached the family about using his tumor tissue samples to advance research, Dominic immediately agreed. He understood that more research was needed and was proud that even in his fight, he could help children facing cancer in the future.Dominic is survived by his father Richard (Sue) Bastuba, his mother Kristi Wells, and stepfather Robert Wells. He is also survived by his siblings, Antonio (Jenna) Bastuba, Chase Dill, Gwyneth Wells, Phoebe Wells, Aurora Wells, Galen Wells, Orion Wells, and Theia Wells. Dominic was also survived by his sweet pup, Shelby. He is survived by his grandparents Leslie and Jamie Beatty, along with many loving extended family members including Uncle Bill (Traci) Bastuba, Uncle Phil (Fran) Bastuba, Aunt Darleen Turner, Uncle RL (Christina) Todd, Aunt Kayla (Doug) Ward, Aunt Amy (Ken) Merrill, Uncle Bill Wells, Aunt Kay Luzaich, and cousins Jon Kruppa, James Kruppa, Stella Kruppa, Reese Todd, Maggie Todd, Arielle Rosenblum, Evan Rosenblum, Bailey Spring, Lucas Wells, Brandon (Lisa) Bastuba, Melissa (Brandon) Lamb, Chris (Emily) Michniewicz, Philip (Olivia) Bastuba, Nicholas (Heather) Michniewicz, Lauren Bastuba, Ryan Bastuba, and Colin Bastuba. He shared a deep bond with two of the best friends a person could ask for, Christian Frances and Gavin Leake. Dominic was also loved by his "Aunt" Olivia Polomski, and his close friend Ayden Snear.Dominic was preceded in death by his great-grandmother Lois, his sister Clara, grandparents Florine Bastuba, Richard Bastuba, and Randy Todd, great-great-grandmother Geraldine, and his niece Meadow Bastuba. The family would also like to express their deep gratitude to the medical teams who fought alongside Dominic, including Dr. Danielle Bell, who fought for Dominic with everything she had. Dr. Nadia Tremonti, who fought for Dominic and made sure that he had what he needed. Dr. Paul Gardner, who removed Dominic's first tumor, and Dr. David Hamilton, who rebuilt Dominic's cervical spine. The family is grateful to the staff of Hospice of Michigan's Anchors Program, especially Dominic's nurse, Katherine, for her compassion and care.Visitation will be held at Dominic's home in Davisburg on Wednesday, March 18 at 4:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 19 at 11:00 AM at South Flint Tabernacle, G3450 Saginaw Street, Burton, Michigan 48529, with a luncheon to follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider planting a living plant that can grow for years to come in Dominic's memory. Donations may also be made in Dominic's honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Childhood cancer research receives less than 3% of cancer research funding, and Dominic hoped that future children would have better treatment options than he did.Dominic's siblings will remember him fondly and will miss his teasing. They will miss his love and his caring. One thing they know without a doubt is that they were very well loved by Dominic. His life reminds us to live boldly, love deeply, and stand up for the people who matter.Dominic wrote the following:From my DeathbedI love you,but that is already knownso, I will not waste my voice on "I love you."I will tell youto never drink on an empty stomachto wrap up warm in colder monthsto learn from my mistakesto work hardto stay amazingto never changeI will tell youthat you should not be herefussing over me,when you have dreams that do not wait.I will tell youleave me nowHold the lovebut leave my body here.I love youTo plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
