December 6, 1931— March 13, 2026
Bay City, MI
Dolores Marie Howell (Sangster), age 94, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born on December 6, 1931, to William and Myrtle (Bruce) Sangster. On May 12, 1951, she married Phillip Howell, who preceded her in death in 2011.
Dolores cherished her family above all else and treasured every moment spent with them, including the many beloved pets that were always part of their home. She never missed a family reunion and found great joy in gathering with loved ones to share stories, play cards, and simply be together. In her younger years, she and Phillip enjoyed traveling across the country by motorcycle and camping in the outdoors. She also took pleasure in watching her favorite game shows and soap operas, and remained a lifelong, devoted fan of the Detroit Tigers, rarely missing a game and cheering them through every season.
She will be remembered as a strong, loving, and independent woman who touched the lives of all who knew her. Dolores is survived by her children, Phillip Howell and Michael (Deborah) Howell; grandchildren, Michael (Valerie) Howell, Joy Howell, Traci Howell, Rebecca (Sean) Hart-Howell, Craig Howell II, and Heather Szyperski; as well as several great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip; her parents; her children, Mark Howell and Craig Howell; her grandchildren, Steven Howell and Dana “DJ” Szyperski; and her siblings, Dorothy Wentworth, Bill Sangster, Diane Sangster, and Donna Lossing.
