Dolores Cruz

Dolores Cruz, known as Mercedes, widow of Orellana, was 95 years old when she was received into the arms of her Lord Jesus Christ on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at home, surrounded by her loved ones.

Born in Honduras on June 18, 1930, she was the daughter of Ubence Calix Cubas and Dolores Cruz Cabañas. In 1949 she married Gonzalo Orellana, who preceded her in death in 1972.

Dolores lived as a true Proverbs 31 woman, a virtuous wife, mother, sister, and grandmother to her family. She taught those she loved to pursue God’s best in all things and to serve others as He calls us to serve. Those who knew her have no doubt that she heard her Savior say, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

She found joy in singing, tending her garden, and quietly observing the birds and God’s creation. She was a faithful member of New Wine Church.

She is survived by her children Hector Gonzalo Orellana, Reina Elizabeth Orellana, José Daniel Orellana, Milgian Perez Orellana, Luis Francisco Orellana, Elsy Yolani Orellana, and Wilmer Daniel Orellana, along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Rosa Emilia Orellana, and several brothers and sisters.
