Dolores Ann Oettle Miller
July 3, 1930— March 6, 2026
Boise, ID
Dolores Ann Oettle Miller, age 95, was born in Detroit, Michigan, on July 3, 1930, to Isaac and Velma Oettle. She grew up in Springfield, Illinois, as the second of three daughters. Dolores attended a Four-Square church where she participated in church camps and sang in the choir. She later sang in the choir at Lanphier High School, graduating in 1948, and cherished the hymn Fairest Lord Jesus with her beautiful alto voice. After graduation, she worked for a law firm in Illinois.
In 1951, Dolores married Guy Morton Miller in North Hollywood, California. Their marriage lasted 68 years. The couple raised three children—Gary, Gail, and Jan—and settled in Canoga Park, now known as Winnetka, California, in 1956. While in California, Dolores worked for a law firm and as an office manager for JCPenney, but she devoted herself primarily to being a loving mother and homemaker. In 2018, she and Guy moved to Boise, Idaho, to be near their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Dolores was preceded in death by her husband Guy, her parents Isaac and Velma, her younger sister Beverly Yustus, and her beloved Grandma Turner. She is survived by her older sister Norma Barth; her children Gary (Charlene) Miller, Gail Thompson, and Jan Miller; her grandchildren Erin (Matt) Jones, Cameron Kitchin, Geoff (Kendra) Miller, and Drew (Anna) Miller; and her great-grandchildren Brennan, Jack, Cora, Cameron, Will, Rose, and Ezra.
She is remembered as a kind, sweet, and giving woman who made her home a welcoming place for extended family and friends. A gracious hostess, Dolores served others unselfishly and took special joy in time spent with her grandchildren. Holidays and family gatherings were filled with warmth and laughter, enriched by her superb home cooking, especially her Róski and pies shared around the dinner table. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
