Dolores Lowe ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Omps Funeral Home and Cremation Center - Amherst Chapel on Mar. 14, 2026.Dolores Ann Lowe, beloved mother of two, interior designer and cherished friend to many, passed away on March 10, 2026, at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester VA.Dolores was born on August 3, 1940, grew up on the family farm in Pennsylvania, and was the daughter of Edith Evelyn and Gaylen B Shaw. She studied at Shepherd College and was a successful Interior designer and owner of Persimmon Hill, Inc. Dolores unconditionally loved her two children and was ever present with admiration and support. She was an avid Bridge player, a voracious reader, and a member in two book clubs. She enjoyed playing piano, loved to cook and entertain and set beautiful tables with her many collections of china. She was a calligraphist and an artist and served many roles in Garden club. Dolores was a former member of Rotary, served on many Boards and chaired many committees. She was an elder in the Martinsburg Presbyterian church and attended Trinity Episcopal Church in Shepherdstown in her later years.She was loved by many for her compassion and empathy. Dolores is survived by her two children Gaylen S Johnson, MD and his wife Karen of Shepherdstown WV, and Meredith Johnson Handakas and her husband Gregory of Richmond, VA, her stepdaughter Elizabeth Lowe of Beverly, MA, her adored grandchildren, Gaylen Johnson Jr, Emily Johnson, Grace Handakas, Nicholas Handakas, Samuel Frederick, sister Deborah Michael, and nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by husbands Robert Lowe and Roscoe Johnson, her parents, sisters, and brothers.At her request, a private family service will be held in the courtyard at the Trinity Episcopal Columbarium in Shepherdstown, WV.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Michael J Fox Parkinson's Foundation (http://michaelfox.org/donate) or to Shenandoah Valley Westminster Canterbury.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
