February 21, 1947— March 7, 2026
Bay City, MI
Diane M. Breitag, a lifelong resident of Bay City, passed away on March 7, 2026, at Covenant HealthCare-Cooper in Saginaw at the age of 79. She was born on February 21, 1947, to Virgil and Florence (Rabidoux) Petrimoulx.
A proud graduate of Visitation Catholic School, Diane formed friendships there that she cherished throughout her life. She was known for being uniquely herself—stubborn at times, yet incredibly selfless, strong, and deeply devoted to those she loved. She worked for over 25 years as an administrator at Moulthrop Clift Insurance Company, where she enjoyed her colleagues and helping clients. Creative and artistic, she found joy in painting, calligraphy, and a variety of crafts.
Family was Diane’s greatest joy. She shared a loving partnership with Alan Janowiak and adored her role as “Nana” to her grandchildren. She loved bringing everyone together and was happiest when hosting gatherings, celebrations, and family parties filled with laughter and connection. Her thoughtful and giving nature touched everyone around her, extending her care and love deeply into her extended family as well.
Northern Michigan held a special place in her heart. Many cherished weekends were spent at her brother’s cabin on Jewel Lake and later at Alan’s home in Bellaire on Intermediate Lake, where countless meaningful family memories and traditions were created. In her later years, Diane enjoyed living in Bay City’s Uptown community on the Saginaw River, where she could watch festivals and the 4th of July fireworks from her apartment.
She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia “Cindy” (Lourenço) Dantas, son, David (Amy) Breitag, grandchildren Symiah Dantas, Patrick Breitag, and Rachel Breitag, siblings Sharon (Jim) Turmell, Debbie (Tom) Voss, Daniel Petrimoulx, Mary Sue (Mike) Arnold, and Nanette (Greg) Lasco, sister-in-law Becky Petrimoulx, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Gary and Mark Petrimoulx.
