Peoria, AZ

Diane K. Soucy, born on October 26, 1942, in Paxico, Kansas, to Paul Wurtz and Vivian (Scheffer) Wurtz, passed away in 2026. A devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, teacher, and friend, she carried kindness, compassion, and strength throughout her life.

Her greatest joy was her family. Diane is lovingly remembered by her daughters Marcie (Tony) and Michele (Gary), and her son Mark. She was a proud grandmother to Alexander, Trey (Nancy), Anthony, and Devin (Kendra), and a beloved great-grandmother to eight great-grandchildren who brought her immense happiness and laughter.

Diane attended Arizona State University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Special Education. She dedicated many years to teaching middle school students, touching countless lives through her patience, encouragement, and belief in every child’s potential. Her students’ growth and success brought her tremendous pride. Outside the classroom, she enjoyed traveling, playing bridge, creating beautiful flower arrangements, and spending treasured time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a warm spirit and a generous heart that made everyone feel welcomed, valued, and loved.

Diane will be remembered as a pillar of strength, a source of kindness, and the heart of her family. Her love and the memories she created will continue to live on in the lives of all who knew her. She will be laid to rest in Newbury, Kansas, in October, her favorite month.
