Diane Cummings ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors - Hodgson Chapel on Mar. 10, 2026.Diane Cummings, 71, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026, at her daughter's home in Savannah, Georgia, surrounded by love. Born on December 31, 1954, in Maine, Diane was one of eight children of Lorraine and Stanley Cummings. She grew up on Cummings Hill in Sidney, Maine, where being raised in a large family helped shape the strong, resilient woman she would become.Diane was known for her spirited personality - a true spitfire with a heart of gold who never met a stranger. She had a generous soul and would give the shirt off her back to anyone in need. Though she did not have great wealth, she had a remarkable gift for making the most out of what she had and could stretch a dollar farther than most. She loved yard sales and thrift stores and took great joy in searching for hidden treasures. Diane was convinced many of her finds were valuable antiques, and whether they were or not, she loved the thrill of discovering them. If something was on sale, she often bought extra so she could give it away to someone else.Music was always close to Diane's heart. She loved classic country music and especially enjoyed singing along to the songs of Dolly Parton, Tammy Wynette, and Barbara Mandrell. One of her favorite songs was "Coat of Many Colors," a song whose message of love and humility reflected the way Diane lived her life.Diane is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Loehr, and her children Amber, Matthew, Cassady, and Grace, along with her great-grandson Austin. She is also survived by her son Steve Farnham and his wife Tracy and their children Emma, Belen, and Frank; and by her son Richard Roy and his wife Christine and his children Mackenzie and Ethan, along with her great-granddaughter Liliana. She is also survived by her siblings Harland Cummings, Robert Cummings, David Cummings, Darlene Crowe, Stephen Cummings, and Ellen Witham. She was predeceased by her brother Stanley "Red" Cummings.Diane will be remembered for her strength through life's hardships, her kindness toward others, and the warmth she brought to those around her. She leaves behind memories filled with laughter, music, generosity, and a spirit that could light up a room.A celebration of Diane's life will be held at a later date to accommodate family travel. The family would like to extend a special and heartfelt thank you to Diane's hospice nurses with Bridge Hospice - Aneser, Kenya, and Josetta - who became not only her caregivers but her true friends. Their compassion, kindness, and dedication brought great comfort to Diane and meant more to the family than words can express. To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
