Diana Fitzgibbons

Diana Fitzgibbons, 63, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026, in Bloomington, Indiana, after a hard-fought battle with ovarian cancer. Intelligent and adventurous, she will be warmly remembered for her deep love of family and faith.

Born on June 11, 1962, in Peoria, Illinois, Diana was the beloved daughter of the late George W. Cackley and Elizabeth Joann (Pontius) Cackley. A proud graduate of Farmington East High School, she earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois. She dedicated her professional life to Quality Engineering and retired from Cook Medical in 2020.

Diana cherished traveling the world, often with friends and family but also on her own. She drove across America multiple times and visited countless countries. A member of Sherwood Oaks Christian Church in Bloomington, she found strength and comfort in her faith throughout her life.

She is survived by her loving children, Erin E. Fitzgibbons of Chicago, Illinois, and Ryan W. Fitzgibbons of Bloomington; her siblings, Linda J. (Cackley) Vernon and her husband, Stephen DeVere Vernon, of Hanna City, Illinois, and Steven W. Cackley and his wife, Becky (Bain) Cackley, also of Hanna City; and many other close family members and friends who shared in her adventures. She was preceded in death by her parents, George W. Cackley and Elizabeth Joann (Pontius) Cackley.
