Dewey Lejeune, 92, of Orange, Texas, passed away on March 14, 2026, in Orange.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. Officiating will be Deacon Steve Obernuefemann and Brother Jeff Bell. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m.Born in Church Point, Louisiana, on July 4, 1933, he was the son of Gabriel Lejeune and Amanda Mott Lejeune. A proud veteran, Dewey served in the United States Army during the Korean War, exemplifying courage and duty during a time of great challenge. Following his military service, he applied his strength and skill as an iron worker and welder with Iron Worker Local 125. Dewey was a devoted member of St. Henry Catholic Church in Bridge City, where his faith played a central role throughout his life. He was also an active participant in the Knights of Columbus Council 3406, Santa Maria 4th Degree, demonstrating his commitment to charitable works and brotherhood within these communities. Dewey was also deeply passionate about several interests that spoke to his vibrant spirit. He cherished moments spent fishing and hunting, activities that connected him to nature and family traditions. An avid woodworker, he enjoyed the artistry and solitude of his shop, crafting pieces with patience and care. His culinary skills brought joy to family gatherings, where he was known for his delicious and generous cooking. Among Dewey's greatest joys was his role as "Paw Paw" and "Papop" to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. This title reflected the immense love, patience, and pride he held for the next generations of his family. Additionally, his fondness for the Astros and the New Orleans Saints showcased his enthusiasm and loyalty to his favorite teams, a source of happiness and camaraderie. His unique hobby of raising goats reflected his connection to the land and to the simple, rewarding aspects of life, further illustrating the rich tapestry of his interests. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.He is preceded in death by his parents, Gabriel and Amanda Lejeune; his brothers and sisters and their spouses; his grandson, Aaron Lejeune; and his great-grandson, Landon Adams.He is survived by his loving wife of almost 65 years, Mary Lejeune; his daughter, Sylvia Adams and husband, Duane of Orange; his son, James Lejeune and wife, Sherry of Orange; his grandchildren, Corey Adams, Trista Leonard and husband, Kevin, Aimee Weldon, and Carmen Hudspeth and husband, Jonathan; his great-grandchildren, Layden Adams, Camden Adams, Keaton Leonard, Adalyn Leonard, Cohen Hudspeth, Amelia Thomas-Lejeune, Rylee Lejeune, and Ryder Lejeune; and numerous other loving nieces, nephews, family members and friends.Serving as pallbearers will be Jeff Moore, Isaac Soilean, Cohen Hudspeth, Keaton Leonard, Laden Adams, and Camden Adams. Honorary pallbearer is Ryder Lejeune.
