Dewey Castle Cawvey, 77, of Salem, Arkansas, passed away on March 5, 2026, in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Born on July 28, 1948, in Manila, Arkansas, to Charley Dave Cawvey and Bessie Evelyn Wallace Cawvey, Dewey lived a life marked by quiet strength and deep devotion to those he loved.
He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and later worked for many years as a truck driver, a profession that suited his strong work ethic and sense of responsibility. A man of faith, Dewey was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. He found great joy in the outdoors, particularly fishing and hunting, but nothing meant more to him than time spent with his family.
Dewey is survived by his wife, Carolyn Cawvey of the home; sons John David Cawvey (Selina) and Lewis Kindrick Cawvey (Becky), both of Salem; five grandchildren, Starla, Tyler (Alina), Izzac (Samantha), Dakota (Myra), and Kaitlynn; and seven great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Gracie, Lindsey, Amilia, Leona, Paisley, and Laken. He is also survived by his brother, John Rex Cawvey (Diana) of Salem, and his sister, Jo Ann Graves of Bellefonte, along with many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Faye and Evelyn.
