DeWayne Anderson was born on October 8, 1964, in Winter Park, Florida, to the late Zalie Baker Anderson and the late Robert Thomas. He grew up in Sanford, Florida, before moving to Bridgeton, New Jersey, where he graduated from Bridgeton High School in 1982. He later attended the University of Maryland Eastern Shore before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps in 1984 and serving a four-year tour of duty.
After his military service, DeWayne returned to Florida, where he married and built a life centered on family and hard work. He raised his two children, Zalie and Nigel, whom he loved deeply and supported throughout their lives. He later moved to Sacramento, California, where he continued his education and earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Science with a concentration in Occupational Health and Safety from California State University, Sacramento, in May 2013. Throughout his career, he earned numerous certifications related to OSHA and workplace safety.
DeWayne passed away on March 6, 2026, while surrounded by his son and siblings after facing long-standing health issues. He will be remembered for his strength, dedication, and love for his family.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted son, Nigel Anderson; his daughter, Zalie Anderson; and his cherished granddaughter, Nya. He is also lovingly remembered by his sister, Deirdre Thomas; his brother, Derrick Anderson; and his sister, Deborah Anderson; his uncle, Willie L. Baker Jr., with whom he shared a very close relationship and who was a constant source of love and support; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other beloved family members and friends.
