Dennis Black ObituaryVisit the The McDougald Funeral Home - Anderson website to view the full obituary. On March 15, 2026, Dennis W. Black, passed from this life into eternity with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. His passing was unexpected, and our hearts are deeply saddened by this tremendous loss.Born August 27, 1973, Dennis was a man whose life was rooted in love-love for his family, his friends, his work, and everyone fortunate enough to cross his path.Dennis was the devoted husband of Stacy Shortt Black, the love of his life. They were married three and a half years ago, and she completed him in a way only she could. Their time together was a gift, and our family will always be thankful that God brought Stacy into Dennis's life at exactly the right time. Today she feels the deep loss of not just a husband, but her very best friend. Dennis was the rock and foundation of their home, just as he was in every part of his life.He was the beloved son of the late Stephen and Janet Black and a proud brother to Donald and his wife Jennifer, David Black, Katrina Gipson and her husband Chris. Family meant everything to Dennis. He adored his parents and made sure their needs were always met. If you asked his siblings, they would jokingly say, "Dennis was the favorite." The truth is, he simply loved deeply and showed it every chance he could. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters-in-law whom he loved so dearly, Sam Black and Susan Black.Dennis had no children of his own, but he poured his heart into the lives of his nieces and nephews. Jacob, Chase, Madison-his "Tink"-along with Tara and her husband Travis, and Beth were all spoiled with love by Uncle Dennis. Birthdays were never ordinary when Dennis was involved. He made sure there was always plenty of pizza, chips, and soda, and that the kids felt celebrated in a way only he could make happen. He stayed connected to the people he loved. Weekly visits and phone calls-sometimes daily-were simply his way of reminding his family how much they mattered.Dennis was also one of the most devoted employees you could ever meet. As a teenager, he began working at Bill's Restaurant in Anderson, South Carolina, and remained there until Bill retired. Bill and his family became another family to Dennis, and he loved them unconditionally. Bill instilled a work ethic into Dennis and was a 2nd father to him. The love and respect he had for Bill was like no other. At the same time, Dennis worked at Fruit Punch, where he spent 33 years alongside Vickie. Their relationship was truly one of a kind-they were not just coworkers, but the very best of friends. Vickie often says Dennis helped build the Fruit Punch business and that she simply could not have done it without him. For Dennis, work was never just a job. He gave his blood, sweat, and tears to the people he worked for, and those employers quickly became family and lifelong friends.Dennis adored his coworkers and made friends everywhere he went. There are far too many names to list, but if you knew Dennis-even briefly-you had a friend for life. He loved people with everything in him.His generosity knew no limits. If someone had a need and Dennis could help, he would. He was kind, thoughtful, and the type of person who made it a point to speak to you, look you in the eye, and make sure you felt seen and heard. And then there was his laugh-that unforgettable belly laugh that would have everyone laughing harder than the joke itself. It was pure Dennis, and if you ever heard it, you know exactly what we mean.If you had the pleasure of knowing Dennis, you are better off in this world because of it. His generosity, compassion, loyalty, and love for others were forces to be reckoned with, and his presence in our lives will never be forgotten. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 19, 2026, from 12:00-2:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm in the Chapel with Rev. Sam Duncan officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Please know that Dennis loved each of you deeply, and we hope the impact he had on your life is one you will never forget.Condolences may be left for the family by visiting WWW.MCDOUGALDFUNERALHOME.COMRead The Full ObituaryTo plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
