Dennis S. Gilbert, 74, of Latrobe, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Brookdale in Murrysville. Born on July 15, 1951, in Latrobe, he was the son of the late Steve and Mary L. (Nalevanko) Gilbert.
A 1970 graduate of Derry Area High School, where he played football, Dennis went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in sociology from Penn State University. He dedicated 37 years of his career to St. Vincent College as associate director of career services, where he guided countless students with patience and wisdom as they navigated career decisions, job searches, and graduate studies. He was a longtime member of the F.O. Eagles No. 01188 and the American Legion Post No. 515. Dennis found great joy in golfing and watching Penn State football.
Preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Kathleen Bates, Dennis is survived by his brother-in-law, David Bates, of Monroeville; his nieces, Laura, Maria, and Linda and their families; and his longtime companion, Cheryl Daniels.
