Dennis Houck ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Simplicity: Lowcountry Cremation and Burial Services - Ladson on Mar. 10, 2026.Dennis Ray Houck"Go rest high on that mountain. Son, your work on earth is done..."Our hearts are heavy as we announce the passing of Dennis "Denny" Ray Houck, 72, of Summerville, SC. He went home to be with Jesus the morning of March 1, 2026 - surrounded by family and held in the arms of his wife.Denny was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. He will be greatly missed by all that were fortunate enough to know him.Denny was born March 14, 1953 to Porter and Betty Houck of Mullens, WV. Denny was Wyoming County born and raised and graduated from Mullens High School alongside his brother Wink (Pam) before he went off to Athens to pursue a degree at Concord College. He was always a phenomenal athlete. Baseball, wrestling, boxing, tennis, golf, biking, skiing, rafting, running… he did it all and he did it well.Denny formed a beautiful family as the years rolled by. His family was blended, consisting of what he and Kathy referred to as "yours, mine, ours and everybody else's". Denny was a wonderful provider for his family, working tirelessly with Kathy to build a welcoming home where anyone who entered was met with love and generosity. Their children, Tracy, Chris, Jason and Stephanie (as well as their niece Becky that he loved as a daughter) began families of their own and before long Denny was a father-in-law to Steven, Meghan, Lisa and Heath and then a grandfather to 9 grandchildren (DA, Mak, Braedyn, Holden, Ethan, Lakin, Lane, Rozalyn and Remmedy).Denny worked in the food and beverage industry all of his adult life, much of that time at the Holiday Inn on Harper Road. He invested so much of his time and energy into the people he worked with there. They were not just employees, they were not just friends… he treated them and loved them each as family.Upon retirement, Denny spent much of his time in the outdoors with Kathy. They enjoyed their time together biking, golfing and going on new adventures. Even skydiving! Trivia nights. Shag lessons. The Grand Canyon. They lived life together. He cared deeply for his wife, always letting it be known that she was his best friend and his greatest love. She will hold him in her heart until he can hold her again in heaven. He will be scattered to rest by the waters and in the mountains he dearly loved. To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
